“There are few places better to be than at an outdoor table at Brandt’s Cafe. Brandt’s is one of St. Louis’ most popular nighttime hangouts. Order dinner from their excellent menu or just sit and sip any one of Brandt’s many fine wines and beers while watching people bustle up and down the University City Loop. Nightly live music rounds out the scene.” Adam Bonislawski
Brandt’s Red Carpet Lounge offers great local and regional musicians in many genres: pop, acoustic, jazz, reggae, r&b, jazz fusion, and blues with only a minimal ticket charge. “Folks are still buzzing over 7-Time Grammy-nominated Kirk Whalum last month at Brandt's. Kirk is one of his generation's most inspirational and accomplished jazz instrumentalists. However, his talent is more than just saxophone deep. Even with all the remarkable notches on his resume - he's played for Whitney Houston, Vince Gill, Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones and other legends…" Rolling Stone Magazine
Hugh "Peanuts" Whalum, a Brandt’s regular and St. Louis legend, has been playing jazz for 63 years and performed with Count Basie, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. Dave Koz recently signed Peanuts, who plays genius sax and piano, and has a voice like velvet. His set, backed by Kirk and several other great musicians, was so amazing that everyone in the room seemed to sigh collectively and say quietly after each song "oh, yeah" or "beautiful." Indeed, it was exquisite and heartbreakingly beautiful. That was Jimi Hendrix, except jazz."
Other regular Musicians include Javier Mendoza, Todd Mosby, Erin Bode, Satin and St. Louis Legends Mae “Lady Jazz” Wheeler and Jeanne Trevor.
